Christmas at house of hope Rifle range Penang

We spent Christmas at the house of hope, a community centre for the Hardcore poor and their families, a place for kids to get an education, a place to eat and somewhere to feel safe or to get help.

We are sharing this because the people at the house of hope are so inspiring and are doing an amazing job running this centre which has grown from strength to strength over the years.

My friend invited me to come along because she and her friends had organised a Christmas party for the kids at the centre. They had fund raised and got together presents and lunch for the children.

Watch the video of our time there

We learnt that some people live on USD50 a month! That’s the same amount you spent on your outfit or your dinner.

Some parents and their grandparents are illiterate but they want to send their kids to school which is a good thing. However they don’t have enough money for their kids to take the bus to school and they work full time, let alone have enough to give their kids lunch money.

Take a moment to reflect on our lives and be thankful for what we have. ❤️
